One of the most revered postwar British roadsters, the Austin-Healey 3000 evolved from the four-cylinder Austin-Healey 100, introduced in 1953. This spartan roadster was a collaboration between small-volume auto maker Donald Healey and mass producer Austin. Bodies were contract-built by Jensen, and the MG factory assembled the complete cars. The car gained a six-cylinder engine in 1956 and then adopted the “3000” badge when the OHV six’s displacement was enlarged to 2.9 liters for 1959. In 1962, a revised Mk. II version, with model code BJ7 and called a “Sports Convertible,” brought the all-weather comfort of a true convertible top and roll-up windows, along with a more-modern curved windshield.
With its appealing, curvy lines and torquey six-cylinder engine, the Austin-Healey 3000 would remain in production until 1967. The 3000 model accounted for nearly 43,000 of the total 65,951 “Big Healeys” made, with about 90 percent exported to the U.S.
Seller reports that he is the second owner. Restoration was reported as having been done within the last 5-6 years. Paint is in excellent condition as is the interior (found one missing switch handle for the ventilation system).
This 1963 Austin Healey 3000 MK II (BJ7) comes dressed in Signal Red with Beige Leather interior. I’m selling the car for its owner (SECOND OWNER) on consignment. The original owner had the car certified in 2016 by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, authenticating the heritage of the car (pic attached). Copy of the original Registration Receipt is also attached, showing that the car was originally sold in Commerce, Texas. Also available are receipts for service through Overseas Motors in Ft. Worth, Texas and original marketing brochures from 1963. Restoration was completed between 2014-2017.
I’ve driven the car and it starts readily, runs well, shifts as it should, steering is tight, and generally a kick to drive!
It comes equipped with:
*Removable hardtop – owner has the convertible frame, but no soft top/ Convertible top cover in the boot (for use when top lowered)
*The 1963 Austin-Healey’s 2,912 cc inline-six engine rated at 150 horsepower, equipped with 2 semi-downdraught carbs. Oil and filter were changed about 6 months ago, using Valvoline 20-50.
* The four-speed with overdrive manual shifts smoothly. These transmissions have a non-synchro first gear, which requires bringing the car to a complete stop before downshifting into first.
*Vehicle has beautiful chrome (not painted) wire-spoke wheels with “knock on” hubs
*Chrome clad wire wheels mounted with a nice set of Yokohama’s P205/65R15’s
*Fuel system 14.4 US gallons
*Indepedent front suspension with wishbones, coil springs, shock absorbers (hydraulic lever type) and anti-sway bar
*Rear suspension – semi-elliptic leaf springs, shock absorbers (hydraulic lever type) and panhard bar
*Hydraulic servo assisted brakes (disc front and drum rear).
*Twin wipers (functional)
*Revolution counter (tach) is operational
*Water temp gauge is functional (runs at about 190 degrees warm – does not overheat)
*Fuel gauge functional
*Oil pressure gauge functional
*Red warning light indicate generator not charging and headlamp high beam position
*Green warning light arrows show direction indicators working
* Carpet floor mats
*Adjustable steering column

Also, if you need assistance in selling your vehicle, I offer a consignment service on a flat fee basis (no sale, no fee charged). Quite a few of my customers utilize the service for the following reasons:
1.Avoid having to deal with countless phone calls, texts, or emails from the public
2.Title paperwork is handled by a licensed Texas Motor Vehicle dealer (especially when a lien is in effect on your vehicle or the buyer needs financing)
3.Making certain that you are paid the correct amount in a timely manner (there are a multitude of scams in the marketplace which can be difficult to detect)
4.Advertising – handled for you in a manner that draws maximum number of interested parties
5.Test drives are always accompanied, never alone (copy of driver’s license and insurance is required). Personal safety can be an issue when test driving with an unknown person. Interested persons are instructed on how to make the test drive without damaging your vehicle (e. g. no jack rabbit starts, no high speed, no rapid acceleration before the engine warms up, no test drives for “under 18 years”, etc)
6.Professional presentation (objections handled) of your vehicle to show its best traits
7.Time savings for the seller – I’m available to show your vehicle by appointment 7 days a week, saving you the time and trouble it takes to consummate a sale
8.Trade-ins accepted by the dealership
9.Delivery – depending on the circumstances a sold vehicle can be delivered to a buyer’s home or office
10.Temporary license plates (issued for the sold unit) avoids your having to worry about the purchaser using your plates and thereby creating a legal liability for you
11.Indoor storage – available as space permits to keep your vehicle safe and protected from the environment
12.Display for drive-by traffic to gain exposure to potential buyers
